If you're anything like me, you've probably been seeing events happening and asking yourself this question: "Really, in a pandemic?" and the answer is "Yes! People are still getting married and are still having weddings in a pandemic!" It might sounds crazy, but it is possible with the proper planning and safety measures. Not only is it possible, but it can be fun and even when it's virtual! The million dollar question is how to do so safely without actually spending a million dollars! Here are some tips and tricks on how to have a safe and fun wedding during a pandemic! 1. Micro-Weddings Micro-weddings are incredibly popular and more couples are having them than ever before! Micro-weddings typically have around 20 guests. This creates a more intimate feel and includes the couple's closest friends and family. 2. Provide Masks/Hand Sanitizers You can make it cute! Trust me! You can customize the label of mini hand sanitizer bottles to distribute to your guests. Make it fun! Include the wedding date and a nice note from the couple! Coordinate your masks to match the colors of the wedding and feel free to add a design to either include a wedding hashtag or the name of the couple! 3. Live-Stream Having trouble downsizing your guest list? I completely understand! So many events have been happening virtually this year from work meetings, graduations, and even weddings. Invest in the virtual experience of your guests! Make them feel like they are still a part of your day even when virtual! Create virtual backgrounds for your guests, a wedding playlist of your favorite songs to send to the guests, and even set up some time for a virtual reception to talk to family and friends tuning in from home! The possibilities are endless! 4. Wedding Care Packages to Virtual Guests Worried that your virtual guests are missing out on the fun? Bring the party to them! This year so many companies are offering virtual experiences. You can leverage them to create a virtual reception or create fun ideas of your own! Send your guests recipes for your Wedding Signature Cocktail, check if your bakery can send cupcakes to wedding guests, create a party pack for guests with party favors and decorations to fit your wedding theme! Tell guests to take pictures of themselves with the party favors and post them with a hashtag or to a common page so that you can have a collection of memories! 5. Minimony and Sequel Weddings Still don't feel comfortable having a wedding now? You're not alone! Have a minimony ( a mini ceremony)! A lot of couples are having a minimony this year that only include the bride and groom, and maybe parents and a few guests (no more than 10 total-including the officiant). Hire a photographer to capture this intimate moment and then plan for a sequel wedding later to include all of your family and friends! The most important thing to consider is you and your loved ones' safety! Be sure to follow your state's and CDC's guidelines. Additionally, ask your wedding vendors what they are doing in order to practice social distancing and ensure your safety, including if they have been practicing social distancing and safety with their other clients as well!
